Tabitha and her Ranger boy!

Today, has been a beautiful day. I woke up to my daughter, Tabitha, knocking on my door saying 'Dada, open the door, I want to see Ranger'.

Ranger was brought home on Saturday (two days ago) from a adoption agency in Mumbai. One and half month old pup orphaned at birth and waiting to be adopted. I agreed to have Ranger home for a week to foster him and also explore how it works to have a dog staying with us. The lockdown seemed to be the perfect opportunity as Esther agreed for us to have a dog in the house a few days ago.

This morning Tabitha entered my room where Ranger also was sleeping and said the most beautiful words 'This is my friend Ranger.' =) Shortly after she started to call him all the sweet words that Esther calls Tabitha affectionately (Esther has a song for Tabitha that goes - You're my ... ... ... ). Well Tabitha said the very same words to Ranger today. It was so good to watch her show affection to a dog who had hardly been in our house for two days.

In the last two days, she has been after him not giving him an opportunity to blink an eye lid. Even if Ranger were to be resting, Tabitha would go and engage him by running around him, bringing her toys to him, and Ranger would get started on that and start running around her. What a sight!

Sometime God helps us express love to non-humans in strange ways. Tabitha has been a beautiful example. Never have I heard her express her love in words like she used today or the last few days - I mean she doesn't express love to us in those words, Lol!! This girl loves her dogs!!

Today was awesome as I got to feed both of them watermelon and see the potential of a friendship growing. They both sat next to each other and nibbled on their watermelon. =) Ranger has a thing about nibbling on Tabitha's pants and getting her attention! And Tabitha would tell him 'Doggy - No, Doggy No'.

Tabitha started referring to Ranger as Ranger boy =) and in the afternoon today after I came back from giving Ranger his first vaccination, Tabitha started playing the guitar and Ranger sat right behind her as her friend listening to what this girl was trying to sing to him =)

A few hours ago today we gave Ranger back to another foster home. We were not able to provide him all the love and care he needed. I am sure he will be in a better place and taken care of well. I found it difficult explaining to Tabitha that her new friend will not be staying with us anymore but going to meet other friends.

This was my favorite photo both of mylmy ones resting over and beneath my legs.

However short, some of lives moments are so precious because it teaches us who we are as people. It also gives us opportunities to learn from kids and their expressions of love and concern. Tabitha may or may not see her Ranger boy again but the father in me has seen the love my little girl has and who and how she wishes to show that!!

Energy spikes v2.0

Yesterday, 2am, our house had a few moments of celebration. Well, it didn’t involve people... It was a group of non-living things - Ac, fridge, lights, washing machine - all of them started blinking and making noises. Electricity box and gadgets going haywire. Kitchen lights working as master switches - controlling power in other rooms, etc. ‘‘twas quite an experience. Today morning we were able to find an electrician who showed up in under an hour to check the power supply and he reported that the house was running at double the power of 440 volts hence the power fluctuations. He was able to do a quick fix and bring everything back to normal. The TV, fridge, Washing machine, AC all started working again! We had started to plan how to empty the fridge, managing our work without wi-fi. Thank God! We didn’t need to do any of those things. This was quite a miracle for us. We remember a similar incident a few years ago in Chennai where we lost a string of electrical appliances due to...

In the beginning

What a way to start from a 5 year gap in naming this blog to actually getting it started! Well, when I intended to start this blog it was based on a few incidents in my life around how I got to meet Esther and us getting married. It was quite a season. A season of uncertainty but anchored in faith and hope that God had brought us together and that we shouldn’t strive hard to make things happen. During that season it meant that we didn’t need to twist arms or fake anything or give up on our priorities but just stay put. It seemed like God has his ways of bringing us together and that He didn’t need our help. We are now close to 5 years since Esther and I got married. A lot has changed. We don’t live in the same city any more, work in totally different environments, our social circles are different, incomes, and most importantly we are no more just two of us but three - we have a two year old daughter named Tabitha. I am also beginning to write this blog at an interesting time. Ind...
